In celebration of Leonard Bernstein’s centenary year,
we present a special afternoon of conversation with
Humphrey Burton - with film excerpts from his
personal archive.

Biographer Humphrey Burton talks about America’s musical giant Leonard Bernstein, distinguished conductor, composer of West Side Story and personal friend. 

Humphrey was head of the BBC’s Music and Arts Department 1965-1967 and 1975-81. He has written major biographies of Leonard Bernstein, Yehudi Menuhin and William Walton. He has directed documentaries, symphony concerts and operas in Europe and the USA including nearly two hundred music films with Leonard Bernstein.
